I wash my face with exfoliating facewash in the morning then in the evening use facial wipes but my skin always gets really oily which makes my hair greasy. Is there any way i can improve my skin? Would a moisturiser make a difference? ThanksHow can i make my skin less oily?
no no dont use moisturiser
clean skin with tonnerHow can i make my skin less oily?
I have always had very dry skin ecpecially on my face until lately it has become very oily...I asked my doctor and shre stated to start to moisterize my face..I had stopped doing that cause I thought it would make it oily, but she said if your face is dry, your body will prodeuce more oil to moisterize it on its own. Dont over moisterize thoug. I use baby lotion, very lightly. oh and be carefull under your eyes, that part of the skin is the most delicate. it will stretch more easliy....
I used to suffer from EXTREMELY oily skin, but its all gone now! Trust me when I say this, as odd as it might sound, you need a moisturizer!
Oily skin is a problem in which the oil-producing glands are over active, so what do we do we do when we see lots of oil? we wash with soap... WRONG! That is the biggest mistake we could ever make! When we wash our face with soap, we strip the skin of its moisture and nutients, and so our glands produce EVEN MORE oil to make up for it.
What we have to do is make our glands produce oil at a steady and slow rate, and if you wanted, even almost to the point where your skin stops producing oil altogether. How do we do that?
Wash the oil out (along with the dirt), and immediately moisturize your face with a lotion that has anitoxidants in it. I use Murad, beacuse Proactive did not work for me. The second step in Proactive was too strong, causing my skin to become irritated and worse. But Murad uses a natural acid produced by the skin to kill 99% of bacteria on your skin. The second step is an exfoliater, and the Third step moisturizes my face extremely well.
I would recommend going insane with the Moisuturizer and apply a medium layer to your face until your skin becomes dependent on the lotion for moisture. It's worked for me, and since a moisturizer is readily available, my skin never goes dry. (my skin barely produces oil now!)
If you don't want to use Murad, I recommend the 2 step approach; wash and moisturize. Buy a face wash that is gentle, one without soap (soap is bad because it is a base, and your skin is naturally a little bit acidic. Soap is also bad because acne bacteria thrive easier in a less acidic invoronment, so, if you use a base, it will lower your acidic content, and your acne will multiply even more!) and then get an extremely good moisturizer.
Oh and also don't forget to take a multi-B-vitamin, Zinc, and Vitamin C! B-vitamins are great for stress and skin (I take Big 100 from GNC), Zinc and Vitamin C are great for the immune system which make fighting acne even easier. Zinc is the most important of these. Also, there are many minerals such as, Threonate and Vitamin P (rutin), that help the absoption of Vitamin C.
Hope everything goes well!
If you need to dry out your face you should try using Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne wash. It not only dries out your skin (not in like a bad way though) but it'll help prevent acne especially in your hairline where the most grease is. Using moisturizer though, I would tend to say no because it'll make your skin greasy to begin with but I guess it would depend on the kind of moisturizer.
Good luck!
try using herbal mask, toner, or milk of aloe
Possible see a docotor but my makeup artist recommended dior moisturizer which i thought i didnt need but it honestly made a difference for me and i had oily skin too...its only about $46 but its amazing
Chill out metrosexual. Watch your diet first. Kill fat in your diet, or minimize it, and the oily skin will cease. Also all the crap your using on your skin only causes it to work harder to be oily, just switch back to water and a washcloth.
I used to have oily skin in HS, friends sometimes jokingly suggested that I powder my nose and forehead. I used everything you can think of, all types of products to limit acne and help my skin.
Then one day I ran out and washed with just water NO SOAP on my face, and wallah. I've had maybe 5 pimples on my face since, and I only get oily when I eat like a whole pizza or bag of chips. Now I NEVER use soap on my face.
Take vitamin A...they have it at any vitamin store or health store. There are different amounts you can take it in, I take 25,000ui which is the most you can take. Maybe start at 10,000ui, but you should talk to your doctor because it's harsh on your liver if you take too much. If your going to take that much you can't take a daily vitamin or eat anything that has alot of vit. A in it. But try reading about it first.
i suggest an oil free face wash, like clean %26amp; clear. also, oil blotting sheets (also made by clean%26amp;clear) could help, in between washings...
ehhhm... good luck?
Try Neutrogena face washes they work really well
ehm for face i use toothpaste to wash cause it will make our face fell fresh n it will less oily on our face.
but for hair,i don't know cause i didn't have this problem n i sure by using moisturiser it will make a difference.
maybe you should see your doctor maybe thats not the right product for you
You don't want to use a product that will dry your skin because then your oil glands will work more to compensate for the loss of natural oils and you'll be even oilier than you were to begin with. Stay away from soap based products for this reason. To clean your skin use warm/hot water and OIL-BASED products as it dissolves sebum (oil substance secreted from your glands), and moisturize with OIL-FREE products to keep your face shine free. Only clean your face 2-3 times a day, remember, too much washing will stimulate your glands to produce more oil.
